Organized by the amazing Kristina Tanasichuk and Kalyna White, the conference featured Ambassador Adam Blackwell, Director of the Global Terrorism Trends and Analysis Center (GTTAC), as well as Dr. Mahmut Cengiz, the Academic Director of GTTAC. This event brought together international experts to discuss global terrorism threats, effective combat strategies, and the significance of personal narratives in counterterrorism initiatives. During the summit, Dexter Ingram, Director at the U.S. Department of State’s Office of Violent Extremism and a member of the Homeland Security Today Magazine editorial board, shared insight from succesful violent extremism prevention programming in Syria. Before the programming an astonidhing seventy percent of young people saw violence as a way of solving problems. After we engaged them in educational programs similar to PBS, that number dropped to only thirty percent still holding the same view. “These outcomes are not just numbers; they’re real progress.” The summit proved to be an essential venue for fostering collaboration among experts worldwide, highlighting the crucial need for sharing knowledge and innovative approaches to confront the continually evolving challenges posed by global terrorism.
